I am used to watching the Olympics since Nadia Comaneci and Katarina Witt performed in the Olympics because they were interesting to watch. Later, I got into watching rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and winter sports. Although I am not athletic at all, I tend to be more active, preferring leisure cycling, brisk walking, swimming, ice skating, skiing, skateboarding, and gym workouts.

Paris Olympics 2024: Opening Ceremony 2024 in Paris, France

Dive into Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony in France.

I decided to watch the Opening Ceremony MMXXIV at 10:30AM, which lasted until three in the afternoon. Emmanual Macron and Thomas Bach announced the opening of the Summer Olympics 2024. Boats started floating on the Seine River, with the animated colors of the French flag swishing over the bridge to represent the French Revolution. Red, white, and blue smoke rose up into the sky over the golden bridge, before long boats of the Parade of Athletes started floating by, one by one. 184 countries will participate in this year’s Summer Olympics.

Greece, Refugee Olympic Team (displaced people worldwide), Afghanistan, South Africa, Albania, Algeria, Germany, Andorra, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain…

Lady Gaga, dressed in black with platinum blonde hair, performed with backup dancers, each holding large fluffy pink pompoms in a Moulin Rouge style performance.

Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, Cambodia…

On the street, along the river, a group of flamboyant people, dressed in monochromatic pink, from head to toe, with pink flags, briskly walked the streets with a faceless person, who took the torch and ran with it ahead.

Check out Celine Dion's powerful performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony captivated the world and welcomed athletes

Cameroon, Canada, Central Africa Republic, Chile, China…

Showgirl performers in monochromatic pink performed along the river. The faceless person with the torch took a zipline across the river overhead. Dancers, in a construction worker theme, performed on the streets as well as hanging off scaffold structure. The anonymous torch carrier continued on his journey with the torch. LV luggage trunks are pushed along on golden luggage cart. I noticed the background is in shiny gold as well as the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The anonymous torch carrier continues his French history journey. Headless Marie Antoinette figure sings in French. Fire performance and rock band performed around a castle. As a woman on a boat sings, her sail shines in glistening gold. Red fireworks squirt out of the castle like bloodshed, along with red ribbons hanging over the boat.

Women in colorful gowns, floating around or waving like flags on stilts, looked surreal. More people in colorful artsy outfits perform in an acrobatic street performance and ariel poses. The colorful gowns swaying hither and thither like flowers in the wind looked like colorful flags waving in the heavy Paris rain. A huge pink heart is drawn in the cloudy white sky, while a band played on a bridge and the anonymous figure ran by with the torch.

Smoke and fire went off, before a French artist and dancers, dressed in head-to-toe gold, walked together on the gold ramp as they performed together. The anonymous torch carrier lighted his torch and continued his walking historical journey. He entered the Louvre Museum building. Crowds of people on the bridges held umbrellas as the watched the Parade of Athletes via boats moving along on the Seine. There were also large huge heads of historical figures floating on the Seine River, in the background.

Cyprus, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, Democrat Republic of Congo, Cook Islands, South Korea, Costa Rica, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Dominica, Egypt, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, Ecuador, Eritrea, Spain, Estonia, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Great Britain, Guinea-Bissau, Grenada, Guam, Guatemala, Guyana, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Equatorial Guinea…

The anonymous torch carrier runs on the bridge and over buildings with the lighted torch, before entering a black and white surreal world and rides away on a hot-air ballon into outer space. He enters an underwater scene with a submarine, filled with animated Minion characters. Back on land, a woman sings on a building in French. Performers in monochromatic white perform on skating ramps. A performer in a white jester outfit sings in French, while a rainbow-colored water show is displayed in the background on the Seine.

Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Kiribati, Kosovo, Kuwait, Laos, Lesotho, Latvia, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Morocco, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Norway…

Red light water show is displayed on the Seine, as a French rapper performs, before the scene changes to a red-carpet fashion show catwalk performance.

New Zealand, Oman, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Palau, Palestine, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Qatar, North Korea, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, San Marino, Saint Vincent & Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierre Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Suriname, Syria, Tajikistan, Chinese Taipei, Tanzania, Chad, Czech Republic, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Venezuela, Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Australia, and USA. Tahiti is displayed remotely, and France ends the Parade of Athletes show.

As I continued to watch the Opening Ceremony, I noticed that it appears to be nighttime in Paris. Each country waves their flag to cheer for their country team. Heavy rain continues to shower over the city as well as the athletes with their umbrella and rainwear. Some athletes take selfies with the lighted Eiffel Tower in the background, making sure to get the lighted Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower. These five Olympic rings represent bringing the world together in peace and harmony.  The blue ring is for European countries, yellow ring is for Asian countries, black ring is for African countries, green ring is for Australia, and the red ring is for America.

On one of the boats, there was a dance performance about the evil controlling the world.

The John Lennon song, “Imagine,” is performed on a floating platform or boat on the Seine River. Fire is blazing on the piano, while the player continues to play for the singer. Afterwards, there are large letters covering the screen, stating “WE STAND AND CALL FOR PEACE.”

The anonymous faceless figure is now wearing an Olympic flag as a cape, over his metallic cyborg suit as he rides an animated silver mechanical horse moving over the Seine River. It almost looks like a futuristic AI knight. Large white dove wings light up on a bridge to symbolize peace. I also notice black dove wings under the lighted Eiffel Tower.  The shiny silver mechanical horse arrives at its destination.

The cyborg figure with the Olympic flag cape is suddenly riding a white horse on land. People, each carrying a different world flag, stand on both sides, and they follow the knight on the white horse with their flag. The figure gets off his white horse, before walking towards and onto a platform. He holds a folded flag, as he walks toward a couple of military men. He gives them the folded flag and they raise the flag on a flagpole, as the Olympic anthem plays in the background.

Tony Estanguet officially opens the Summer Olympic Games, before Thomas Bach officially opens the Olympic games. Emmanuel Macron also officially opens the summer games in Paris, France.

French soccer player passed the lighted torch to a Spaniard athlete. While holding the lighted torch, the Spaniard travels by boat with other former athletes. Heavy rain continues in Paris. When they arrive land, a French female former athlete greeted them, before taking the lighted torch and jogging on wet streets to the Louvre. She passed the lighted torch to a French male athlete. She jogs behind him, as they pass the lighted pyramid. He hands the lighted torch to a female handicapped athlete. Others jog with her, including a male handicapped athlete.

She handed the torch to a male athlete, and they continued to pass the torch to other athletes as the group behind the torch carrier grew. The lighted torch is handed to the oldest former athlete, who is now 100 years old, and he is sitting in a wheelchair. The final two French athletes, each with a lighted torch, walked toward the cauldron. They light the hot-air balloon cauldron and watch the hot-air balloon shape cauldron turn into glowing bright yellow and orange colors. It almost looked like an atomic bomb going off over Paris. It slowly rose up into the dark nighttime sky. Celine Dion sings in French, under the Eiffel Tower. Paris is lighted up at night with colorful lights. The whole city, which includes boats, buildings, Eiffel Tower, bridges, and a huge TV monitor billboard, glistened with colorful lighted gems under the dark nighttime sky.
