Since time immemorial, candles have exerted a powerful influence over humanity. Beyond their function of illuminating a dark room, these small flames have been used by various cultures and civilizations for their spiritual powers.

Today, I would like to talk to you about this power, as a candle is light, and light is always good. I remember as a child, that in each room, we were given small floating candles that brightened the nights and took away our fear of the dark. The use of candles dates back to antiquity, where they were used in wedding and birthday ceremonies. But today, I want to talk about the use of candles in our spirituality, our lives, and our protection.

The symbolism of the candle has endured through the centuries. The flame is commonly associated with life, wisdom, purity, and divinity. When we light a candle and say a prayer (to the GOD you believe in), that candle is considered a focal point of light that illuminates the universe and a gesture of hope and faith, as it represents the belief that thanks to that light, what we ask for will come true.

For example, white candles are often used for purification and peace, while red candles can be associated with love and passion. Similarly, green candles are commonly used in rituals related to prosperity and abundance. Besides their uses in spirituality, candles are also used in meditation practices. Contemplating the flame of a candle can serve as a focal point for mindfulness, allowing the mind to quiet and relax.

There are various colors of candles (and each one is used for a different purpose as I mentioned above), but personally, if I light one, I always choose white because it symbolizes purity and loyalty, faith and hope, and my friends, I can truly say that this tiny light is more than the darkest night, for if you light it with love and hope (from personal experience), it will help us in our sorrows, console our tears, and bring peace to our lives.

Everyone is free to pray and reinforce their requests, the power of prayer is what is important, but if while doing so, we light a small light that reaches the Universe and looks like a star making a plea, supported by Faith, it will grant us that smile that makes us happy.

Candles have many more aspects of use! Many! Today, I focused on talking to you about the beauty and purity of soul that exists when tears dry up and sadness is forgotten, by raising the light of the candle along with the burning ember of our souls. As you know, I am a Poet; Poems and Stories are my true addiction, and writing my feelings in verses is a great gift of life for me. From here in Spain, I thank you for reading this Column, as I write it with love.

Poem: The Woman

That woman was crying, life, children, the house, failure, they fired her from her job, she said nothing, and said nothing, and there on the bench, there on the bench, she cried alone.

As she did so, she looked to the Sky, it seemed to her that up there a star fluttered, she wanted to shine, reach the Sky, talk to God, tell him what she wanted, just to shine.

Between sob and sob, between bitterness and bitterness, looking at the Skies, all her longing was reflected in them; Listen good soul, crystal soul, wave of the seas, light on an altar.

Light a candle (of those you keep for me, there on your altar).

There where you pray, light it for me, from My Heavens I will help you.

I will give you Light, joy and peace, light good soul, that clear candle, that every star may see from the Heavens and in silent love grant you peace and a life full of happiness.
