On Monday, May 4, 2026, this year’s theme is costume Art, and the dress code is fashion is art. It took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and guests must be invited to attend. It was organized by Anna Wintour—Global Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director for Vogue. This event is a fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute. Designers explained their costume, worn by a model. Anne Hathaway wore a gown by Michael Kors, and he explained the hand-painted art on the dress, which has to do with peace and harmony. Some celebrities explained their own costume and who designed their costume.

Trick or Treat on the First Monday in May

Bollywood celebrities modelled their costume at the event. Some included Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan, Manish Malhotra, Isha Ambani, Sabyasachi, Priyanka Chopra, and Kiara Advani. Heidi Klum was dressed as a statue. She went all out, dressed in a very elaborate costume.  It looks like a Halloween costume. Someone was dressed in a Nefertiti gold costume. Beyonce, dressed in diamonds and feathers, looked dark. Her gown had like a skeletal diamond design, with matching diamond gloves. She also wore a long feathery cape with a long train. Her shiny crown looked like a big sun goddess crown, covered with diamonds. She kind of looked like a dead but wealthy bird. Nia Long and Jaafar Jackson posed on the red carpet, but not together.  Cher stated that she is Meryl Streep’s friend.  Jaafar wore a Ralph Lauren suit. Kylie and Kendall Jenner looked like Lady Godiva statues. Many female celebrities wore a trompe l’oeil costumes of the illusion of nudity.  Risque but fun and creative.

But there was some MET Gala controversy. Activists displayed signs stating Amazon powers ICE as well as everyone should boycott Bezos. Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos are named Honorary Chairs of the MET Gala. On Facebook, someone compared Beyonce's diamond-studded skeletal costume to a starving kid in Gaza. Moreover, MET Gala 2026 diplayed some hidden symbolism in some of the weird and quite dark costumes. As I watched the video, I noticed these celebrities were promoting satanism and witchcraft, such Katy Perry’s six-finger white glove on one hand. A man and his shadow-self costume? Freemasonry, duality, adrenochrome, and Heidi Klum's fat and creepy statue were some of the weird outfits. Kylie Jenner’s weird dress, where she wears a nude bodice and a gown intentionally following down, off her body. Kendall Jenner's Zac Posen gown had a nude-breast bra, where a fake breast was intentionally popping out of the dress. Their inspiration for this gown is the Winged Victory of the Louvre. At least, she explained her dress better than her sister. There were protests against MET Gala 2026. Activists placed signs at the location to make a statement. Tickets for this invite-only event increased to $100,000. Some people are calling this event by the name Tech Gala because of all the AI promotions She also compares the fashion at the MET Gala to the movie, Devil Wears Prada 2. Mumulemon calls out Lululemon’s unethical-made merchandise.

In this HauteLeMode video, the guy talks about some of these strange costumes, more like a roast rather than explaining the costumes. The black-ink splattering costume looks psychological, especially with the black lips, almost like a psychopath costume. It could also be a mental-case artistry. The black woman in a white gown looks like a Greek goddess. Her dress looks nice and normal. Beyonce as a diamond-studded skeletal sun goddess? It kind of looks like death of an animal or bird. Kardi B’s costume looks like a deformed body. Chase Infiniti’s costume does look like an artform sculpture. I think her costume is good because it looks colorful and artistic.  Cher is dressed in black leather and lacy Burberry costume, which looks normal for Cher because it looks like her personal style. Colman Domingo, dressed in Valentino, kind of looks like a jester, or even the Fool Card in the tarot cards. Grace Abram’s dress is interesting but I don’t get it because it is average. Hailey Bieber’s royal blue and gold gown did not make any sense to me. Heidi Klum’s statue costume is creepy. She should wear this for Halloween to scare the kids. It is very artistic because she does look like a real statue. Hudson Williams’ Balenciaga Spanish inspiration suit is OK, but the matching weird red and blue makeup looks satanic. The black train with the pants is weird. Janelle Monae wore Christian Siriano technology costume. I guess she pulled off the art sculpture look because it looks like an art sculpture created from garbage in the junkyard.

But I agree that Anne Hathaway looks better than usual in Michael Kors peace and harmony dress. She almost looks like a Greek goddess. Kim Kardashian wore an orange metallic costume. It kind of looks futuristic, like something from the movie, Fifth Element. Maybe she is trying to look like a futuristic superhero. She should have dyed her hair to an neon orange shade in order to match her costume. Kylie Jenner wore a Schiaparelli costume. It appears to be inspired by Venus de Milo. I thought she might be Lady Godiva. Rose wore a black Yves St. Laurent gown with a large dove at her waist. Teyana Taylor wore a Tom Ford white gown, filled with fringe from head to toe that she looked like Cousin ITT from the Addams Family. At least, she is appropriate for the MET Gala's dark undertone event.

The Fashion News video listed the best dressed celebrities at Met Gala 2026, which includes Kendall Jenner, Margot Robbie, Georgina Rodriguez, Camilla Mendez, Anne Hathaway, Gabriella Union-Wade, Sabrina Carpenter, Hailey Beiber, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, Joey King, Lindsey Vonn, Cara Delevingne, Chase Sui Wonders, Venus Williams, Jennie, Emily Blunt, Anok Yai, Tyla, Nicole Kidman, Ejae, and Beyonce. I do not agree with some of these women on this list.

Georgina Rodriguez wore a large engagement ring from Cristiano Ronaldo. Her costume is interesting. Camilla looked like an Indian princess in her costume. Anok looked like shimmery bronze statue, dressed in head-to-toe black, maybe symbolizing death, or someone’s death. Tyla’s costume looked interesting and artistic. Ejae’s gown looked interesting and artistic, as well. If this is the future of fashion, then the future will likely by very scary.

The video lists thirty women at this year’s MET Gala that did not dress in the theme, Costume Art: Fashion is Art. They either dressed in a regular gown, or just in a creepy weirdness. Karlie Kloss in Dior, Cara Delevingne in Ralph Lauren, Lala Anthony, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Julianne Moore, Cher, Dree Hemingway, Kris Jenner, Rose (KPOP Black Pink), Carey Mulligan in vintage Prada, Doja Cat in a beige Saint Laurent, Sutton Foster, Anna Wintour, and Ashley Graham. DOECHII arrived barefoot, wearing a wine-colored Marc Jacobs scarf covering her private parts, henna art on her feet, and a very long turban in the same wine color. Lisa (KPOP Black Pink) had 3D mannequin arms on her white gown and veil. She had four arms sticking out of her body, which looked surreal, eerie, and creepy. Kim Kardashian wore an orange Alan Jones bodysuit. Gigi Hadid wore a black sheer gown displaying her underwear and tits Lauren Sanchez Bezos wore a regular gown. Madonna dressed theatrical but not art. She had four blindfolded women-in-waiting around her as her entourage.

She looked like she was going to a funeral. Sarah Paulson had a dollar bill over her eyes as a blindfold to make a statement. Sabine Getty wore a nude bodice with sheer tattered white cloth covering her body. I think it looked like art, but creepy art because of the skin-peeling depiction. Lena Dunham wore red feathers over her fat body. Cardi B wore custom Marc Jacobs. She depicted a deformed body from blotched plastic surgery. It think it looked like grotesque art. Lena Mahfouf wore silver-hands bustier and Greek-goddess styled powder-blue skirt. Kylie Jenner wore an illusion dress with 10,000 pearls and foam nipples on her nude bodice. Heidi Klum, the Queen of Halloween, wore a prosthetic suit of an ancient Greek or Roman marble sculpture. This full-body costume looked satanic. Katy Perry wore a fencing mask and white gown with white long gloves. She depicted questioning real and AI. But she looked like she was a faceless woman in a white gown, similar to a transhuman.

The people speak up against the Bezos because Amazon treats its blue-collared workers badly. Many people compared the MET Gala to the Hunger Games because of the destruction of Gaza and killing many young schoolgirls in Iran. Whole Foods supports ICE, as well. The MET Gala displayed a class war between the 1% privileged elites and the 99% struggling to live their life.

Another video explains the blasphemy at the MET Gala 2026. She is funny, making fun of the weird and creepy costumes. She labelled her video, Tower of Babel. I agree with her entertaining comments.
