Magnanimous Mother by Yogesh Chander Sood

Like a tiny, tender sapling
Braving storms around,
He barely turned a little over two
When his mother died,
The little one unawarely plunged
Into glooms of this world, big and wide
Surrounded by the ocean of the universe
deep and dark
Hardly knowing the semblance
Of the gracious dame
Who brought him on the earth
Before leaving for her Heavenly abode.

The wheel of time moved on and on
The infant grew
Under the benevolent care of his uncles and aunts,
Nurtured, fondled by his venerable grandmother,
who changed the destiny of his unfortunate life
Before that guiding light too was gone
The little guy had already stepped into youth.

Like a brook Life never stops
It treads on and on
Exploring the unknown journeys of life
Attaining new milestones by the Almighty, God's grace
Day by day, year after year
Missing on some occasions, triumphant on a host
The boat of his life sailed slowly but steadily,
But he ever missed her benign touch, a loving pat,
Her benediction, her kindness, her mercy
And her compassion
On notable occasions of his life,
But a faint notion ever crept in him
That though unseen, she was always around.

Haply sinking into oblivion
Reminiscences of the bountiful one
May be due to family constraints
Of strife, stresses and strains of life,
The young one transformed into a full-fledged man
Will ever remember her till he dies
And meets the glorious one who bore him,
In Heaven again.
