Wealth, Capitalism, and Healthcare: The Rockefeller Influence.

Wealth, Capitalism, and Healthcare: The Rockefeller Influence.

Explore the profound impact of wealth and capitalism on society in this insightful piece. Discover how figures like John D. Rockefeller influenced the healthcare industry, shifting focus from natural remedies to profit-driven pharmaceuticals. Delve into the implications of media control and the perception of living standards in various countries. Reflect on the ongoing relationship between money, power, and our health, and question whether we are truly receiving the care we deserve.

The Influence of Wealth on Society

Every time I reflect on the world’s pressures, I am amazed by its capacity for rapid change under capitalist influence. These capitalists have, in various ways, ensured that the "ordinary person" increasingly believes they are dependent on money and power. Just look around you, or listen to your own thoughts: what do you feel you need to demonstrate your worth, or how well you care for your family and friends?

Do the Wealthy Control Your Thoughts?

Through media—often owned by the wealthy—we are told precisely who we could be in the eyes of others if we adequately utilize their products and services. I am consistently surprised when I find myself in so-called "developing countries," where the "standard of living" is often deemed lower than in my home country, according to media narratives. In places like India, Indonesia, or Zambia, I frequently find the climate more pleasant and the food tastier, more digestible, and healthier.

Is the Food in India, Indonesia, or Zambia Inferior?

I recognize that I tread a slippery slope by labeling countries like India, Indonesia, and Zambia as having lower living standards, while many residents there experience a "sky's-the-limit" mentality. Thank goodness for that! I assert it is never my intention to insult anyone. In fact, during my stay in Bali, Indonesia, I enjoyed nutritious and delicious food daily, far surpassing what I typically find in the Netherlands.

What Were John D. Rockefeller's Plans for Our World?

Historically, there have been numerous wealthy individuals who have sought to profit at our expense. One notable example is John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937), an American oil magnate who became one of the richest people of his time. However, his wealth did not quell his ambition for more.

What Do Oil and Heart Medicine Have in Common?

Rockefeller discovered that certain crude oils contained medicinal properties that could potentially transform healthcare. During his era, diseases were primarily treated using natural herbs, which were often freely available. Rockefeller developed "new" drugs in his chemical laboratory and launched an extensive marketing campaign to promote these products globally. Many longstanding natural remedies suddenly became sidelined, while his chemically produced drugs were marketed as the new standard.

Did Politicians and World Leaders Participate in Rockefeller's Campaign?

It is almost inevitable that many politicians and world leaders participated in Rockefeller’s lobbying efforts. His new drugs, often addictive and expensive, were produced by a German chemical giant he acquired, which previously manufactured chemical weapons. Disguised by a clever marketing strategy, the negative aspects such as addiction and price gouging were concealed. Rockefeller's influence allowed him to monopolize the industry, accumulating vast wealth in the process.

Are We All Addicts Funding the Rich?

Rockefeller's power grew to the extent that he became president of the American Medical Association, one of the most influential organizations in American healthcare. He ensured that medical training prioritized his products over all others. The healing properties of plants and traditional diets were systematically erased from medical literature, replaced by his manufactured drugs. Those who opposed Rockefeller faced severe repercussions, often being discredited or silenced.

Are You Well Taken Care Of by Your Doctors?

Are you confident that your healthcare providers always tell the truth and offer the most effective treatments? It appears that Rockefeller and others transformed global healthcare into a capitalist stronghold, with little regard for genuine patient care. Even when evidence emerged that his drugs could cause harm, Rockefeller sought to suppress that information, silencing dissenting doctors and removing their voices from public discourse.

Money and Power: The Drivers of Humanity

As we navigate this complex landscape, one cannot help but ponder the extent to which the medical industry, driven by profit motives, impacts our health. The monopolistic practices established by figures like Rockefeller continue to shape our healthcare today. After considering all this, I wish you good health. Do you wish the same for me? Money and power remain the primary motivators for many people on our planet.

Mandela, Gandhi, and Obama showed true leadership beyond wealth.

Many aspire to managerial roles for power and salary, but true leadership, exemplified by figures like Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Obama, goes beyond wealth. Leadership is about character, vision, and the ability to inspire others. Financial independence can help but isn't necessary. Effective leaders delegate, develop others, and focus on the greater good, not just personal gain. True leadership qualities are rare and often innate, as seen in leaders like Steve Jobs and Margaret Thatcher, who left lasting legacies by empowering those around them and leading with conviction.! Here's a version of the text that includes references to more famous leaders:

The Allure of Managerial Positions

The desire to attain a managerial position is a common aspiration among many professionals. The allure of such roles often stems from the perceived benefits associated with the title: higher salaries, increased influence, and the power to make decisions that shape the direction of a team or organization. Many believe that achieving a managerial position is synonymous with success, viewing it as a way to increase their personal and professional influence. However, the true essence of leadership, as demonstrated by figures like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, and Winston Churchill, is not solely tied to wealth, power, or title. Leadership is far more complex, requiring qualities that extend beyond financial independence or managerial authority.

Nelson Mandela: Leadership Beyond Wealth

Nelson Mandela, one of the most revered leaders in modern history, was not a man of great wealth. His influence and leadership did not stem from financial independence but from his unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and the well-being of his people. Mandela's leadership was characterized by his ability to inspire and unite others, even in the face of extreme adversity. He did not rely on money or power to lead; instead, he leveraged his moral authority and his ability to connect with people on a deep, emotional level. This example demonstrates that being rich is not a prerequisite for effective leadership. True leadership is about character, vision, and the ability to inspire others to work towards a common goal.

Gandhi and Churchill: Leading Through Conviction

Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill, two iconic leaders of the 20th century, also exemplify leadership that transcends financial considerations. Gandhi, like Mandela, was not wealthy, yet he led India to independence through nonviolent resistance, driven by his deep moral convictions. Churchill, on the other hand, came from a more privileged background, but his leadership during World War II was marked by resilience and the ability to rally a nation under dire circumstances. Both leaders demonstrated that leadership is about more than just financial stability; it is about having the courage to stand by one’s principles and inspire others to do the same.

Does Financial Independence Enhance Leadership?

Financial independence can certainly provide a leader with more freedom to take risks and make bold decisions without the fear of immediate financial repercussions. A leader who does not have to worry about losing their job might feel more empowered to pursue innovative ideas or challenge the status quo. However, this does not mean that financial independence is a necessity for leadership. Many great leaders, like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Mother Teresa, led transformative movements without the cushion of financial security. Their leadership was rooted in their convictions and their ability to mobilize others, not in their personal wealth.

The True Role of a Manager

The role of a manager, therefore, should not be viewed merely as a stepping stone to personal gain or increased power. Management is about enabling others to perform at their best, facilitating teamwork, and ensuring that organizational goals are met. A manager's primary responsibility is to support their team, provide guidance, and create an environment where everyone can succeed. This often involves delegating tasks, empowering team members, and trusting them to take ownership of their work. Effective delegation is a critical skill for any leader, as it not only helps distribute the workload but also develops the skills of others and prepares them for future leadership roles.

Obama’s Approach to Delegation

Barack Obama, during his presidency, was known for his ability to delegate effectively. He surrounded himself with a team of skilled advisors and trusted them to handle various aspects of governance. This approach allowed him to focus on the broader strategic vision for the country while ensuring that day-to-day operations were managed by capable individuals. Obama's willingness to delegate demonstrated his confidence in his team's abilities and his understanding that leadership is not about micromanaging but about empowering others to contribute their expertise.

The Risks of Centralized Control

In contrast, some leaders, like Donald Trump, have been criticized for a more autocratic style, where delegation is less common, and control is centralized. This approach can create an environment where subordinates are hesitant to take initiative or make decisions independently, fearing repercussions. While this style might work in certain contexts, it often stifles creativity and innovation, as team members may feel that their contributions are undervalued or that they are merely executing orders rather than collaborating on solutions.

The Importance of Developing Others

The fear of being overtaken or overshadowed by others is a common concern among managers. However, truly effective leaders recognize that their success is tied to the success of their team. By helping others grow and develop, a leader not only enhances the overall performance of the organization but also ensures a pipeline of future leaders who can continue to drive the organization forward. Leaders who are insecure about their position and try to hinder others' progress ultimately harm the organization by creating a toxic environment.

True Leadership Qualities Are Rare

Figures like Steve Jobs, Margaret Thatcher, and Nelson Mandela illustrate that true leadership qualities are indeed rare and often not learned from textbooks. These individuals possessed an innate ability to lead, inspire, and influence others in profound ways. Their leadership was not about maintaining their position but about making a lasting impact on their organizations, nations, or the world. True leaders understand that their role is to serve others, facilitate growth, and pave the way for future leaders. They recognize that leadership is not about self-preservation but about leaving a legacy that benefits others long after they are gone.

This revised version includes more examples of famous leaders to illustrate different aspects of leadership.

Choosing the Right Leaders: Understanding Age, Experience, and Representation in Modern Politics.

How often must we stumble before we understand our actions? Many people no longer delve into our living environment, merely following the loudest voices. Are we choosing the right leaders based on age, experience, and character? The situation in the USA raises questions about electing elderly leaders like Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Can younger candidates like Kamala Harris provide better leadership?

How many more times do we need to stumble before we understand what we are doing? Sometimes I quietly wonder if we want or can see everything around us and assess it in a healthy way. Or are we just following the loudest voices? Are we only following our instincts now, or do we think that others around us always have our best interests at heart?

Who are we following now?

I have noticed for a while that many people no longer delve into our living environment. Yes, we see if the “ordinary” person fits in with us, or if we are entertained on time by the “clowns” around us who keep us busy with various amusements. But how is our life going, and who could improve it?

Are we choosing the right representatives?

For example, when we choose a new leader, how do we do that? What do we look for before making the right choice? Does the age of that person matter, should they have sufficient life experience? Should it be an independent person? Should it be a man, or could it also be a woman, and why? I have been looking with suspicion at the situation in the United States of America for quite some time. Repeatedly over the past years. They have been electing retired individuals as their leaders for a long time. Candidates for the position must also be of impeccable character. The person in question should never have spoken a harsh word, and corruption or lies are completely unacceptable. This makes me think of the current leaders in America and their potential successors.

Do you have enough knowledge to choose at all?

Picture: Theodore Roosevelt President of the USA 1901 (EW Magazine)

A few days ago, the eighty-one-year-old current president Joe Biden indicated that he no longer wanted to continue in the elections because he could no longer express himself well during the current election race. Remember that this president was already seventy-six when he was elected president. Most companies in the world do not need a man of that age in their workforce. In the Netherlands, the retirement age is sixty-seven. Of course, some workaholics continue to work past that age because they think they are indispensable or because they need the money. But most people stop working when they are entitled to do so.

Do you want to exchange one retiree for another?

His opponent, until a few days ago, was the seventy-eight-year-old Donald Trump, who is still in the race. Also, a man who has long since reached retirement age. A man who made his money in a way that many have criticized over the years, by acquiring real estate in the Manhattan district of New York. A man who is certainly no stranger to the necessary malpractices with that real estate. A man who has even been convicted. I have my doubts, do you? And this man will also be eighty-four when his legal term as president ends. What is the average life expectancy for a man in the USA? According to insiders, it is 76.1 years. In 2020, it was still 77, so the age is decreasing. In other words, will Trump even make it to Inauguration Day? A state funeral is also not cheap these days!

Does the "new" presidential candidate have the right life experience?

Kamala Harris, a fifty-nine-year-old woman from California, is currently vice president behind the recently resigned Biden. Before this position, she was a senator from the state of California, and before that, a state attorney. Kamala is the daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother. This is, of course, not a problem in the land of unlimited possibilities, but her age. Fortunately, others who were even younger preceded her, such as: Theodore Roosevelt at 42 years and 322 days, John F. Kennedy at 43 years and 236 days, Bill Clinton at 46 years and 154 days, Ulysses S. Grant at 46 years and 311 days, and in 2009 Barack Obama at 47 years and 169 days (EW Magazine). Fortunately, these were not the least in our history.

Can we look to the future with Kamala with peace of mind?

Perhaps the trend of high age in presidential elections will be discarded after these elections, but then Mrs. Harris will have to be elected on the upcoming election day. We could still have the misfortune that this lady dies prematurely, but she is likely to have more understanding of the questions and living conditions of her peers and might be more familiar with the current issues that concern the world population. A woman in the prime of life is what the world needs, don't you think?

Do you also notice that trivializing “problems” is becoming the new trend?

Discover how storytelling shapes young minds, instilling empathy and resilience. Explore the power of narratives in nurturing values in children.

In my opinion, a minister is someone who should lead his ministry in the first place. As in almost any other self-respecting organization, the best minds are often not in the driver's seat, but the most influential people, "the thinkers," are often elsewhere in these "departments.".

They generally don't speak much, but when they do speak, everyone listens with their lips tight. They often determine the direction in which the organization ultimately goes, they come up with new strategies, which often must be implemented by others. In addition to those thinkers, "extra thinkers" are often flown in, "the external consultants.".

These are often the most expensive employees, These expensive people research the most difficult challenges and often come up with the solutions needed to cope with the extreme changes of the current time that come their way for companies or other organizations. I have had the opportunity to participate in various activities at different companies while sitting in different chairs in the past.

In doing so, I have sometimes been allowed to come up with things.  You must realize that, as an advisor, you are only asked to give advice. The manager of the organization you are currently working for decides whether to do something with your advice or not. This is important in connection with the liability of these external consultants.

This is legally regulated. After all, the consultant is not officially part of the body in question.  When I sometimes look at politics with a slanted eye, I secretly wonder: "what advice ministers receive and how they deal with it in practice." When I look at the trend that I feel I am now observing in politics, I see that the current civil servants are downplaying a lot.

(Downplaying means 'to present as less (big, very, important, etc.) than something actually was', specifically: 'to present as insignificant'. You can trivialize with gestures (making a dismissive gesture), but the law will mainly focus on trivializing through words).

I suspect that this is due to the current staff shortages among civil servants caused by the ageing of the population in Europe. In practice, I believe that this means that the correct penalties are not always imposed for a crime or misdemeanor in the ever-increasing number of criminal trials.

Many perpetrators currently get away with a more lenient sentence, a warning, or even a suspended sentence during the trials against them. Sometimes that's a good thing, because it even says in the newspapers that there are not enough guards for all cell complexes in the Netherlands. This has also created enormous waiting times for criminals to be allowed to serve a sentence. (?)

(Even the prisons are short of guards!) So, there are more and more criminals walking around freely in our society. I am not the only one who sees that our society is becoming increasingly rough, and that people are becoming more and more alienated from each other. In my opinion, this is because more and more are allowed by trivializing the government. It is unfortunate that weaker people in our society are at risk of falling victim to this. These weaker people just need "the strong hand" to help them keep their heads above water. In the Netherlands, many police officers have also been replaced by volunteer police assistants and special investigating officers (BOAs), with far fewer powers and a lower salary than regular officers.

(Isn't it just a "dirty" cut at the expense of the inhabitants?) Because if I knew in 1995 or earlier that an aging population was coming, what about the personnel strategies once devised by those expensive external consultants and the "managers" at the responsible ministries regarding our current time?

Have they deliberately allowed the current unsafe situation to arise? Did they not inform their recruiters properly, or was this method of trivialization coined much earlier as a "cheese slicer" method, as a camouflaged cut? It is a pity that the citizens must figure it out for themselves. But then again, a person can do more than he thinks, and it's not that bad, is it?

In my view, effective leadership is crucial in any organization. External consultants play a significant role, yet ultimate decisions lie with organizational leaders. Trends of downplaying issues in politics may stem from staffing shortages. This impacts justice and societal safety. It's unfortunate that weaker individuals suffer. Strategic foresight is vital in addressing current challenges. Citizens deserve transparency and accountability in governance.
