Who has not wondered
how to reach you, Senegal?
Emerald of a West African coast
I love your beauty and elegant charm
Elated women and men sing praises
Magnificent voices channel your essence
As their words leap from the soul,
we earnestly listen; one fine day,
I wish to pay you a good visit

From the top-to-bottom,
I’ll scout your exquisite scenery
Natural treasures sprout,
in unfading abundance
Lush green forests dazzle me
Your vast waters are teeming
with rare ocean creatures
The landscape comes to life
What a truly magical view!
Your captivation is irresistible
Senegal, I know why you are loved
Mother Nature adorns you.

She offers magnificent retreats
Vibrant people call you their home
In the streets, locals light the spaces
Their vibes set the tone of the day
By early sunrise they liven up
I am curious to meet them,
a close-up encounter
Senegalese people ,going about life
How do they stay grounded,
in a fast-changing world?

Yours truly, Africa, embraces you.
She never removed her gaze;
Always hold her image uprightly.
Your voice once sent ripple waves,
a celebration of your heritage!
Your bond with Africa fortified
I wonder what lies on the horizon
What do you see in the future?

Let not society devalue your culture;
Your culture is richer than gold.

Never turn towards a decrepit path
I trust you shall stay true, always
Your enduring beauty
survived invasive storms
Time after time, I call to mind
all the beautiful places
Until I set foot on your shores,
you live in my thoughts
Our time together will be divine!
Much love, from an enticed admirer.
