Would you love Maria Puzo in Mirapur? As an avid viewer and follower of Mario Puzo's trilogy: "The Godfather", the story of the rule of the mafia in America, derived from the iconic battle on the Italian peninsula of Sicily that began as a film cycle in 1972. Therefore, with a brilliant sequel in 1974 and e 1990, In this film cycle I enjoyed the developments in the different mafia families. Mind you, I don't have to be part of it in practice, but from a distance it's quite an exciting boy's dream.

The Family and its dominion.

This series is about the New York-based Corleone mafia family with Michel Corleone as the main character. This story takes place between 1945 and 1955. The story begins with the murder of Father Don Vito Corleone. When his rule is gone, his two sons must try to maintain the power of the family in New York in the battle with five other mafia families. Of course, everything revolved around illegal liquor in those days. In short, a lot of violence and power-hungry men who compete in everything.

Is Mirzapur different?

Mirzapur is not a cinema trilogy, but a TV series that first aired in 2018 and is currently available to watch for free on prime video. Because it is not a movie but a TV series, there are many more details in this crime drama. The series is set in the city and municipality of Mizapur of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The district had a population of 2,114,852 in 2001 and covers an area of 4522 square kilometers, it is located on the river Ganges. It is quite a religious city that has literally become famous because of a temple known as Vindhyachl (where great politicians and celebrities come to receive their blessings).

What is the story about?

The millionaire and carpet exporter Akhandanand Tripathi, who is quite a supporter of the mafia, is the "godfather" of this series in everything he does. Like Vito Corleone, he is about a crime family, in which two young boys in this family become criminals because of a family problem. An interesting thing about this television series is that, unlike many other crime thrillers, in which we identify with the heroes, in this series there are no "good" men. As a result, the person you end up supporting, or becoming a fan of, is no less evil than the other men in this series. However, this series doesn't make a point of testing the moral scale of its viewers from time to time.  The accompanying excitement makes many people enthusiastic to keep looking.

The Violent Son.

Akhandanand Tripathi has a son, Munna, who is unworthy of ever receiving his father's inheritance. Munna, however, does everything in her power to one day have access to his father's millions. You will understand that "everything" is accompanied by a lot of violence and cunning actions back and forth between the different mafiosi families there.

In short, a very exciting series where you must be careful not to fall off the edge of your seat like a shock.

Why so many viewers around the world?

The success of this series is partly due to the fact that Mirzapur as a plot is not difficult to follow. This does not make it too difficult for the many viewers to gain a special viewing experience. Even if you prepare a snack in between, the ex positive qualities of this series will bring you back to your senses in no time.

Is mafia in all of us?

Ok, we won't admit it easily, but the fact that we keep longing for this, and similar series also says something about you and me. Everyone has something of a desire for power in them. But the strange fact is that when most of us are put in a similar position, we keep falling back into our old roles. After all, the strange fact is that a decent role also includes opponents who have characters that we can't handle or at least don't know how to appreciate. Just look around you at the dominant types who cross your life path daily.

But what if you're not involved yourself?

Snuggled up on the couch at home in front of the television, you only have to step into these situations with your thoughts. If you close your eyes, you will be back in your own familiar life, with all those you love gathered around you. Enjoy the "wonderful" series with popcorn and maybe a good glass of wine. Always remember, "The world can be different."
