Neil Armstrong (August 5, 1930—August 25, 2012) was the first man to set foot on the moon, followed by Buzz Aldrin. Neil was born to Stephen Koenig Armstrong and Viola Louse Engel.
He was born in Wapakoneta. Neil was well experienced and had a strong background in aerospace engineering. At his collage days, Neil Aimed and focused at the university of Purdue of the southern California. However, he held many honorary doctorate degrees from many universities.
Neil joined the NASA at the age of 19 in 1949. There he worked as an engineer, test pilot, astronaut, and administrator for NACA (present day NASA). Working for the research centre as a project pilot. Therefore, he also worked for many high-speed aircraft (4000 MPH)
The Armstrong in the Real life
He had four to five friends, the family moved to Ohio, and at the age of five, Neil had a younger brother and sister. He was a fond of playing cricket in his early days with his favourite friends.
The definition of research in the understanding of Neil Armstrong was simple. The one who does not know anything or going out looking for new things to understand.
He was very quiet, very quiet, do not say much. This says something about to listen. He enjoyed my jokes. Anyone who enjoys my jokes is going to friend of mine.
Kotcho Solcoff (Neil’s best friend)
In much of society, research means to investigate something. You do not know or understand.
Neil Armstrong
Setting the human foot on the planet Moon was not victory to only Neil, but that's one small step for a man and was one classic giant leap for mankind. Neil still being called the first man who left his shoe print on the moon and walked freely, and Buzz Aldrin being second. The mission Apollo 11 successfully carried by three great people.
The Team of Apollo 11
The Apollo was the first spaceflight in the history of human landed safely on the surface of the moon. Those three hero were Commander Neil Armstrong, Lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin and co-pilot Michael Collins. The mission launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 20, 1969. The Apollo 11 built into three parts, commander module, service module and lunar module.
The command module had a well constructed cabin for these three leaders, therefore, service module full of electric power, oxygen and water, and supporting command module. The lunar module made up of two doors, one to descend for landing on the moon and the other one to ascend back into the Apollo. Through the ascending door, almost 21 kg of material from the moon, including rocks, were taken back to earth. They had spent almost 2 hours and 36 minutes on the moon. NASA called this mission held on 20th July 1969, “One Giant Leap for Mankind”
The Earth is the only visible object from the moon other than the sun. The earth is quite beautiful and from the moon it is small… its very blue and covered with white layers and clouds… and the yellow colour from the distance.
Neil Armstrong in one of his interviews with BBC in 1970
When Neil joined the NASA, his first assignment successfully carried out in Cleveland. was an engineer, test pilot, astronaut, and administrator for NASA for the following 17 years. However, he was a member of the team that succeeded in completing "The First Manned Lunar Landing Mission" and holds the distinction of being the first person to command a spacecraft that set foot on the moon.
Armstrong, after resigned the NASA in the year 1970 he soon joined the university and earned another title of professor. He was a professor of Aerospace Engineering at the university of Cincinnati (1971 – 1979) for eight years. You may read about Kalpana Chawla, an India astronaut and her life.
