Mahatma Gandhi's political career was marked by numerous successes and failures, and pinpointing where it went wrong requires a nuanced analysis of his decisions, strategies, and the broader historical context. As far as I know, Mahatma Gandhi, renowned for his philosophy of nonviolent resistance, played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence from British colonial rule. However, there were certain junctures in his political journey where his decisions and actions faced criticism or resulted in setbacks.
I agree to this that he had took many pointless decision like the one Hitler took while World War 2, but why? Was it for the sake of power or money?
Deep-routed caste system
One significant aspect of Gandhi's political career that drew criticism was his approach to caste and class issues within Indian society. I could say, it was one of the big mistakes had happened in the government of India. While Gandhi advocated for social justice and equality, his methods often fell short of addressing the deep-rooted caste system and socioeconomic disparities prevalent in India. Showing some mercy toward illiterates to take over the advantages of innocent souls? His emphasis on traditional Hindu values and his reluctance to challenge the entrenched caste hierarchy alienated many lower-caste and marginalized communities, who felt excluded from the mainstream nationalist movement. What was the point of being a secular which made a big riot over the night in the society of India which ultimately resulted in the partition of India into India and Pakistan?
Industrialization in the modern society
Another contentious issue was Gandhi's stance on industrialization and modernization. While he championed the cause of rural India and promoted self-sufficiency through cottage industries, his rejection of large-scale industrial development was seen as unrealistic and impractical by some of his contemporaries. This reluctance to embrace modernization hindered India's economic progress and contributed to the perpetuation of poverty in certain regions.
Partition of India in 1947
I would say, he is a culprit of whatever had happened that night, we have to agree and there is no other statement it can change my mind. Gandhi's role in the partition of India in 1947 also remains a subject of debate and criticism. While he advocated for Hindu-Muslim unity and opposed the partition, his efforts to bridge the communal divide proved insufficient in preventing the violent riots and mass migrations that accompanied the partition. Critics argue that Gandhi's idealism and insistence on nonviolent resistance were ill-suited to the escalating tensions between religious communities, ultimately leading to the tragic consequences of partition.
International relationship during his political career
Additionally, Gandhi's approach to international relations and diplomacy faced challenges during his political career. While he was revered as a moral leader and symbol of resistance worldwide, his uncompromising stance on certain issues, such as India's support for the Allied powers during World War II, strained relations with Britain and other colonial powers. Furthermore, his advocacy for pacifism and nonviolence in the face of aggression, such as during the Quit India Movement, was criticized for its perceived ineffectiveness in challenging colonial oppression.
Despite these criticisms and setbacks, it is essential to acknowledge Gandhi's enduring legacy as a visionary leader and advocate for peace, justice, and human rights. His philosophy of nonviolent resistance inspired countless movements for social change around the world and continues to influence political leaders and activists to this day. I am also a bing follower of his principles and mostly his crafted social sins that he think it is always right. While his political career may have faced challenges and shortcomings, however, other thing balanced naturally. Therefore, Gandhi's commitment to ahimsa (nonviolence) and satyagraha (truth-force) remains a beacon of hope for those striving for a more just and equitable world.
The principle of Mahatma Gandhi is so effective that all the world admires it, and one of them is the seven social sins. Gandhi, in his time, kept educating the people and society. However, most of the leaders today follow his great principle.
These Seven Social Sins according to Mahatma Gandhi have been discussed after further in 1989 in The Compassionate Universe: The Power of the Individual to Heal the Environment by Indian, Eknath Easwaran. As well as, by foreign writer Stephen Covey in 1989, Principle-Centered Leadership, and Frank Woolever(2011) inGandhi’s List of Social Sins: Lessons in Truth. [1]
Among those, seven sins of Gandhi are popular. Furthermore, it guides the human being toward the trustworthy development of life. It also called as Seven Social Sins. As well as, these sins further focused on the conducts of a man in society.

The opinions and principles of Mahatma Gandhi are worldwide famous and one of the letters which were sent to Leo Tolstoy, he felt so happy upon reading them. He found that Mohandas Gandhi on the track of non-resistance. In the Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy letters, According to Leo’s reply in the letter below which was sent to Gandhi in the year 1910, 7th September. Tolstoy said that non-resistance is the discipline Of love unperformed by false interpretations. Moreover, he added, love is supreme and unique law and the manifestation occurs and seen in soul of infants. However, the man feels it and never blinded by doctrine of the world.
However, there are numbers of philosophies according to ancient culture of the countries like Indian, Chinese, Hebrew, Greek, and Roman where there is violence. The love is incompatible is the most common law of the nature. Therefore, one who has admitted to violence, the theory of love found futile. Thus, it stands to exist.
If there is a resistance aside love, it straight says there is no love in between and hence law of existence does not exist. As well as there is no other law but violence. Tolstoy also shaded lights on Christian on love and violence. According to him, the law of love expressed so clearly by Christians. His opinion on inner contradiction are all the real story of socialism, communism, growing criminalizes, unemployment and illogical luxuries of riches.
Further, he stated that the life of Christian people have categorized love and violence into two utter contradictions. The love recognized as the law of life and on the other hand, violence as predictable in different departments of life like government sectors.
I have received your journal Indian Opinion, and I am happy to know all that is written on non-resistance. I wish to communicate to you the thoughts which are aroused in me by the reading of those articles. The more I live—and specially now that I am approaching death—the more I feel inclined to express to others the feelings which so strongly move my being, and which, according to my opinion, are of great importance. That is, what one calls non-resistance, is in reality nothing else but the discipline of love.
Unreformed by false interpretation. Love is the aspiration for communion and solidarity with other souls, and that aspiration always liberates the source of noble activities. That love is the supreme and unique law of human life, which everyone feels in the depth of one's soul. We find it manifested most clearly in the soul of the infants. Man feels it, so long as he is not blinded by the false doctrines of the world. That law of love has been promulgated by all the philosophies—Indian, Chinese, Hebrew, Greek, and Roman. I think that it had been most clearly expressed by Christ, who said that in that law is contained both the law and the Prophets.
But he has done more; anticipating the deformation to which that law is exposed, he indicated directly the danger of such deformation, which is natural to people who live only for worldly interests. The danger consists precisely in permitting one's self to defend those interests by violence; that is to say, as he has expressed, returning blow by blows, and taking back by force things that have been taken from us, and so forth. Christ knew also, just as all reasonable human beings must know, that the employment of violence is incompatible with love, which is the fundamental law of life. He knew that,
once violence is admitted, doesn't matter in even a single case, the law of love is thereby rendered futile. That is to say, that the law of love ceases to exist.
The whole Christian civilization, so brilliant in the exterior, has grown up on this misunderstanding and this flagrant and strange contradiction, sometimes conscious, but mostly unconscious. In reality, as soon as resistance is admitted by the side of love, love no longer exists and cannot exist as the law of existence; and if the law of love cannot exist, therein remains no other law except that of violence, that is, the right of the mighty. It was thus that the Christian society has lived during these nineteen centuries. It is a fact that all the time people were following only violence in the organisation of society.
But the difference between the ideals of Christian peoples and that of other nations lies only in this: that, in Christianity, the law of love had been expressed so clearly and definitely as has never been expressed in any other religious doctrine; that the Christian world had solemnly accepted that law, although at the same time it had permitted the employment of violence and on that violence it had constructed their whole life. Consequently, the life of the Christian peoples is an absolute contradiction between their profession and the basis of their life; contradiction between love recognised as the law of life, and violence recognised as inevitable in different departments of life: like Governments, Tribunals, Army, etc., which are recognised and praised. That contradiction developed with the inner development of the Christian world and has attained its paroxysm in recent days.
At present, the question poses itself evidently in the following manner: either it must be admitted that we do not recognise any discipline, religious or moral, and that we are guided in the organisation of life only by the law of force. Or that all the taxes that we exact by force, the judicial and police organisations. And, above all, the army must be abolished. This spring, in the religious examination of a secondary school of girls in Moscow. The Professor of Catechism, as well as the Bishop, had questioned the young girls on the Ten commandments and above all on the sixth “Thou shalt not kill”.
When the examiner received a good reply, the Bishop generally paused for another question: Is killing proscribed by the sacred Law always and in all cases? And the poor young girls perverted by their teachers must reply: No, not always; killing is permitted during war, and for the execution of criminals. However, one of those unfortunate girls, (what I relate is not a fiction but a fact that has been transmitted to me by an eyewitness) having been asked the same question, “Is killing always a crime?” was moved deeply, blushed and replied with decision “Yes, always.” To all the sophisticated questions habitual to the Bishop, she replied with firm conviction: killing is always forbidden in the Old Testament as well as by Christ, who not only forbids killing but all wickedness against our neighbours. In spite of all his oratorical talent and all his imposing grandeur, the Bishop was obliged to beat a retreat and the young girl came out victorious. Yes, we can discuss in our journals the progress in aviation and such other discoveries, the complicated diplomatic relations, the different clubs and alliances, the so-called artistic creations, etc., and pass in silence what was affirmed by the young girl.
But silence is futile in such cases because everyone in this Christian world is feeling the same, more or less vaguely, like that girl. Socialism, Communism, Anarchism, Salvation Army, the growing criminalities, unemployment and absurd luxuries of the rich, augmented without limit, and the awful misery of the poor, the terribly increasing number of suicides-all
these are the signs of that inner contradiction which must be there and which cannot be resolved; and, without doubt, can only be resolved by acceptation of the law of love and by the rejection of all sorts of violence. Consequently, your work in Transvaal, which seems to be far away from the centre of our world, is yet the most fundamental and the most important to us. Supplying the most weighty practical proof in which the world can now share and with which must participate not only the Christians but all the peoples of the world. I think that it would give you pleasure to know that with us in Russia, a similar movement is also developing rapidly under the form of the refusal of military services augmenting year after year. However, small may be the number of your participators in non-resistance and the number of those in Russia who refuse military service.
Both the one and the other may assert with audacity that “God is with us” and “God is more powerful than men”. Between the confession of Christianity, even under the perverted form in which it appears among us Christian peoples. And, the simultaneous recognition of the necessity of armies and of the preparation for killing on an ever-increasing scale. There exists a contradiction so flagrant and crying that sooner or later, probably very soon. It must invariably manifest itself in utter nakedness; and it will lead us either to renounce the Christian religion.
And to maintain the governmental power, or to renounce the existence of the army and all the forms of violence which the state supports and which are more or less necessary to sustain its power. That contradiction is felt by all the governments, by your British Government as well as by our Russian Government. And, therefore, by the spirit of conservatism natural to these governments, the opposition is persecuted, as we find in Russia as well as in the articles of your journal, more than any other anti-governmental activity. The governments know from which direction comes the principal danger and try to defend themselves with a great zeal in that trial not merely to preserve their interests but actually to fight for their very existence.
With my perfect esteem,
LEO TOLSTOY
It is true that experiences teach us, whether it is good or bad. Being a wealthy adult, it is common chasing women, gabling, drink, etc. However, learning from the mistakes and confess later need a winning heart. Thus, when life strike at Leo Tolstoy (8 Sep 1828-20 Nov 1910) Tolstoy understood from his self learning tool that “the meaning of life” and is soul purpose in one's life.
Leo, the great Russian novelist who wrote a short novel, “A Confession” in 1879 at the age of 50. It is based on his own realistic biographical piece of non-fiction. Leo narrated the mid-life crisis of his life including religious views, his belief, problems, and philosophical thoughts through the questions and answers. In the novel, Tolstoy discussed all about “if God does not exist, since death is inevitable, what is the meaning of life” the life becomes impossible when these questions arise in any person, especially when no answers to this. Tolstoy experienced the same and, in his book, also stated that “god is life”.
Leo Tolstoy on Christianity
Every religion at the end says one thing, and almost common. However, there are miss-interpretation of the religious texts. In this holy world, more than four thousand religions are existing, but some of them have wrongly interpreted by intentionally or without intentionally by our communities. Xuanzang’s travel of 17 years on horse searching for Buddhism is widely famous. Xuanzang came to know that there were missing text of Religious belief, and thus he had decided to travel to ancient India to gain complete knowledge about the real Chinese culture. The spiritual crisis of Leo Tolstoy, recounted in the “A Confession”. Therefore, not only Leo but others and still, today people have few questions in minds keep zigzag without answers to it. In the book, Tolstoy said,
Judging by certain memories, I never seriously believed, but I had merely relied on what I was taught and on what was professed by the grown up people around me; and that my reliance was very unstable.
Leo Tolstoy
Leo Tolstoy, raised in Russian church of orthodox spiritual community. Therefore, one quickly understands the real life struggles to fly and reaches to own conclusion about “the meaning of life” than it taught at the young age.
The well-grown experiences in brain
Leo quickly realized that his own real experiences are heavier and must put on paper to give an ease to his philosophical nerves. His first novel “War and Peace” is the first creation of his, fighting in the Crimean War. Tolstoy had continuously nominated for Nobel Peace Prize in 1901, 1902 and 1909. However, he does not win a single prize, and it was the most controversial part of the world’s literature. Leo was not only a writer but one of the few influential personalities to the great leaders and victorious minds of 20th century. His thoughts and the great sayings still inspires the young generations. Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi was one of them. He was inspired by Tolstoy’s two great things, one was choosing non-violence and non-violence resistance and other was “bread labour”.
What is “bread Labour”?
Every person should do all his work himself according to his strength, ability and as far as possible. Gandhi wrote a series of articles in 1930 on the theory of Tolstoy,
Man must earn his bread by manual labour, never by mental work.

When each time I sit and think, a thought occurs to me, how much I have borrowed from society, nature, and my parents I doubt if ever I could repay this debt in my life.
Albert Einstein
However, Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) who was the all-time greatest physicist had the same conclusion. He said that we keep borrowing from others but often sometimes forget or unable to return it.
All these great people bow upon the principle thought somehow related to each other similarly. They taught humans from the eras a way to successful, smooth and obstacles free life.
Mahatma Gandhi said he was following Harishchandra when he was seven. Whoever it says, It would not be an ordinary person. Any child at this age either copy someone or lie many times. As a parent, some must have forgiven their kids. He also added that at that age, his sole companion was only his books and lessons when he used to go to school, he never used to talk to anybody, a very shy and own minded businessman.
When he was in high school, during the exam, he well narrated his experience of the art of copying. That art everyone must learn, upon learning it could help an individual succeed in his life. As everyone knows that there are always two sides, Dark and Bright. Choosing the one that is the art and when an inexperienced walk on the unknown road, it gives pure meaning for what he was travelling.
The incident had happened with MK Gandhi during his high school exam, he was misspelled the word Kettle. The teacher prompted him by pointing his boot at a neighbour's slate, but he did not prompt as advised.
“One of the words was Kettle. I had misspelled it. The teacher tried to prompt me with the point of his boot, but I Would not be prompted. It was beyond me to see that he wanted me to copy the spelling from my neighbour's slate, for I had thought that the teacher was there to supervise us against copying. The result was that all the boys, except me, were found to have spelt every word correctly. Only I had been stupid. The teacher tried later to bring this stupidity home to me, but without effect. I never could learn the art of copying.”
Mr Gandhi also stated another example, and he overrode all his elder’s advice and decided on his own to copy that person. The sorrow of Saravanan’s parent over the death still was looking fresh for Gandhi throughout his life. Such a developed mind at this age had brought the great leader to India.
But somehow my eyes fell on a book purchased by my father. It was Shravana Pitribhakti Nataka-a book about Shravana's devotion to his parents. I read it with intense interest. There came to our place about the same time it inerrant showmen. One of the pictures I was shown was of Shravana carrying, by means of slings fitted for his shoulders, his blind parents on a pilgrimage. The book and the picture left an indelible impression on my mind. 'Here is an example for you to copy,' I said to myself.
M K Gandhi
His great experiences teach us deep about life, one of his act of principle three monkeys are more famous. They briefly explain not to see evil, hear evil and listen to evil which are bad things.
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
MK Gandhi
Our eyes can hide the entire world inside us, it has such a power of mercy or anger. Or it is the only eyes that make us blind from the entire world from experiencing it if it has a different expressive attitude. Gandhi's principles of non-violence give in-depth meaning by one of his quotes above and have no one yet used as an example by any political leader. When we go anywhere, an eye first feels the presence of the place. Gandhi's family says that it is one of the real quotations by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
